Jen has been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) since 2011. Jen earned a Master’s degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in Community Counseling from North Carolina State University, a Master’s degree in Human Development with a concentration in Child Development from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina.
Jen’s experience includes working with children, adolescents, groups, and families in public schools, community mental health centers, and private practice. Jen works with clients on a variety of concerns including exposure to trauma in home, school, and community, parenting styles, anger, anxiety, ADHD, behavior concerns, depression, and relationship issues. When working with clients, Jen uses a client-centered approach that is collaborative and supportive in nature. Jen also incorporates methods of play therapy and is completing requirements to be credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist.
