Alisha is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate having completed a Masters in Social Work Degree from Fordham University School of Social Services in New York City. She also earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The School of Visual Arts in New York City.

She empowers clients to achieve their goals and optimize the way they function in the world. Her compassionate and integrative approach is informed by Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Expressive Therapy, Neuroscience, and Mindfulness Practices. Therapeutic Sessions are client-centered, collaborative, and supportive where each person is viewed as a unique individual who deserves to be heard, seen, and valued.

Alisha is passionate about helping people thrive and is honored to work with children, teens, adults, couples, families, and groups. She teaches clients accessible and sustainable tools to cope with issues including anxiety, depression, compulsive disorders, substance abuse, sexual trauma, relationship distress, family conflict, life transitions, PTSD, and Eating Disorders.

Outside of the counseling office: Alisha Nissenfeld began practicing Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction techniques as well as traditional yoga, about 20 years ago, and in 2007 became a certified teacher. In May 2014, she moved to North Carolina with her husband and three children and is passionate about spreading love and light through her connection to the earth, community building, and intentional living. In 2018 she completed a RYT-500: Yoga Trauma and Therapeutics Training through Asheville Yoga Center of NC. Alisha leads mindfulness classes, workshops, and retreats around The Triangle.
