Amanda is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and a Certified Safe & Sound Protocol Provider. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University. Amanda trained clinically for two years in developmental and Autism Assessments and in providing therapeutic interventions to individuals with Autism and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their families. Today, Amanda continues to follow her passion and specializes in working with young children, adolescents, adults, and families utilizing therapies such as Child Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotion Coaching, and Mindfulness.
As a Child and Family Therapist, Amanda practices from a Solution-Focused perspective, where she partners with her clients and families, helping them to uncover and connect to their unique individual strengths. She believes in setting goals and orienting a focus towards the future, while creating a safe space for all feelings. Her practice employs interventions through the lens of trauma-informed care. Amanda uses play therapy in her treatment of children and adolescents and is currently working towards her certification as a Registered Play Therapist. Amanda integrates play, sand, puppets, art, and co-regulation into her sessions. She believes in educating and empowering clients to be active participants in the direction of their treatment.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, pottery, painting and playing with her two silly pugs.
