Caila Zenner

Caila Zenner is a counseling intern completing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina Central University. In 2019, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in education from Binghamton University. Before joining the Horizon team, Caila worked extensively with children as a preschool and elementary school teacher and an enrichment specialist for a local non-profit organization. Her passion for recognizing and supporting mental health needs in various settings prompted her to pursue her master’s degree in counseling. She is empathetic, dedicated, and eager to apply her knowledge of child development to her role as a counselor.

Caila enjoys working with clients of all ages. She aims to create an environment that embraces diversity and inclusivity while supporting growth and self-awareness. With that goal in mind, her primary approach to counseling is an integration of person-centered, mindfulness-based, and cognitive behavioral therapies. This approach is holistic and individualized as every person’s story is unique and deserves to be treated with respect. She feels that each individual is the expert on their own life and takes a collaborative approach to developing meaningful solutions to reach their goals. Her philosophy is rooted in therapy being a safe space where people receive the support, validation, and tools needed to process their thoughts and feelings. Through collaboration and support, Caila hopes to foster self-compassion, empowerment, and growth in her clients.
