Two evidence-based methods, one therapist
Gottman Method

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Discernment counseling
Short-term structured work for couples where one or both are unsure about the future of the relationship.
Designed to be easy on both of you
Reach out together (or alone)
Either of you can start the conversation. We’ll talk about what you both want from therapy.
Consults
When offered, a short call to make sure we’re a good fit and set expectations. Consults vary by clinician — they can be joint, and not everyone participates.
Assessment session
An extended first session plus brief individual check-ins. Then we build a plan together.
Sessions
Sessions are typically 60–75 minutes. How long we work together depends on your goals — we figure it out together.

Common questions
What if my partner isn't sure they want to come?
It’s more common than you’d think. Reach out anyway — we can talk about what ‘discernment counseling’ looks like, a structured option for couples where one partner is on the fence.
Do you do pre-marital counseling?
Yes. A short series of focused sessions covering communication, expectations, finances, family-of-origin, and the practical questions couples don’t always ask.
Can sessions be virtual?
Yes. Couples often appreciate the flexibility, especially when partners travel for work. We see couples in person and via secure telehealth across North Carolina.
Do you work with non-traditional relationships?
Yes. LGBTQ+ couples, ethically non-monogamous and polyamorous structures, and blended families are all welcome here.
Ready to do the work together?
Reach out and we’ll help you figure out the right starting place — couples sessions, discernment counseling, or something in between.
