Lauren Reaves is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). Lauren is currently working towards becoming a registered Play Therapist and an Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (IMHS/ECMHS). Lauren recently became a practitioner of FirstPlay, which is an attachment based therapy aimed at strengthening the bond between a baby and parent through baby massage and stories.

Lauren received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Elon University and her Masters of Education in School Counseling from North Carolina State University. Prior to starting at Horizon, she worked as a school counselor in Wake County. Lauren has experience working with infants, toddlers, children, families, and groups. She also has experience working as a play therapist with toddlers and younger children.

Lauren enjoys working with new parents, infants, toddlers, children, and families. As a counselor, Lauren aims to help her clients be their best self. Lauren provides counseling using an evidence-based, non-directive, child-centered, and family systems approach. In addition to more traditional counseling techniques, Lauren also utilizes play, art, nature, and strength-based therapies as a way to help clients work towards their goals.

Lauren aims to provide a safe and supportive space where she can collaborate and work with her clients to reach their goals. Lauren works with individuals from a variety of backgrounds on issues including becoming new parents, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, grief and loss, transitions, and other mental health and life concerns.

In her free time, Lauren enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, baking, and spending time with her family and dogs.
