Mental health care, embedded in your school.
Horizon partners with public, private, and charter schools across North Carolina to bring on-site therapy and consultation directly into the school day — reducing barriers for students and families and lifting weight off of school staff.
What our school partnerships include
On-site therapy
Individual therapy for enrolled students, available through commercial insurance or private pay — the school does not cover any costs.
Crisis response
Responsive support when something happens — a death in the community, an incident, a student in acute distress.
Family liaison
We bridge the conversation between school staff and parents so support stays consistent at home and school.
Teacher consultation
Brief consults with teachers on supporting individual students or whole-classroom dynamics.
Group programs
Skills groups around anxiety, social connection, executive function, and grief, tailored to your student population.
PD & training
Professional development sessions for staff on trauma-informed practice, suicide prevention, and supporting LGBTQ+ students.
Built around your school, not bolted on
Embedded clinicians
A dedicated Horizon therapist is on campus on a set schedule, with consistent space and a known face students can find.
Coordinated with staff
Brief check-ins with school counselors and administrators keep care aligned with what’s happening in the building.
Flexible funding
We work with insurance, school budgets, and grant funding — most students access care at little to no out-of-pocket cost.
Starting a partnership
Discovery call
30 minutes with our school partnership director to understand your community, current supports, and gaps.
Scoping proposal
A written proposal outlining staffing, hours, funding mix, and outcomes you can share with your board.
Onboarding
We embed your dedicated clinician, set up referral pathways, and brief your staff on how to use the service.
Ongoing review
Quarterly check-ins to look at utilization, outcomes, and adjust the partnership as needs evolve.
Who you'll be working with

Common questions
Who pays for this?
Most often: a blend of insurance billing for enrolled students and a base contract from the school or district. We work with schools to land on a funding model that works for your budget.
Are you currently working with any schools?
Yes. We currently partner with several public and independent schools across the Triangle. We’re happy to connect you with a partner administrator as a reference.
What ages do you serve?
We work with K–12 schools. Our school-based clinicians are trained across the developmental range, with specialty in adolescents and teens.
How is student privacy handled?
Clinical records are kept fully separate from school records, in line with HIPAA. Schools receive aggregate utilization data, never individual session content unless required by safety reporting laws.
