MSW, LCSWA
Specializes in Teens and Adults
Sierra is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) who received both her Bachelor of Social Work and her Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University. She primarily works with college-age and adult clients of various backgrounds. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and relationship issues. She has a particular heart for supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals navigating religious trauma, and survivors of sexual, mental, emotional, and physical abuse.
Sierra believes in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can freely explore their thoughts and feelings and work towards their goals. She supports her clients in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and in building a broader set of coping strategies. By “meeting clients where they are”, she emphasizes that they lead the process and are the true experts on their own experiences. She takes a client-centered approach to care rooted in empathy, collaboration, holistic health, and evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based interventions. CBT assists clients in recognizing the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This method is effective for reframing unhelpful thoughts and changing how individuals perceive their surroundings.
With a deep desire to enhance the overall quality of life for her clients, Sierra is committed to fostering a supportive therapeutic relationship that empowers clients to embrace change and discover their strengths. In her free time, Sierra enjoys engaging in activities that promote holistic health such as exercising, spending quality time with friends and family, cruising around on her motorcycle, traveling, painting, spending time in nature, singing, and writing music.
